This weekend, I had the opportunity of attending the 127th Venice Biennale Art Festival. La Biennale di Venezia is one of the most famous cultural institutions in the world, and it dates back to 1895 when the first International Art Exhibit was organized. In the 1930s, new festivals were born: Music, Cinema, and Theatre (the Venice Film Festival in 1932 was the first film festival in history).
The theme of this year’s art festival is “The Milk of Dreams” which takes its name from a children’s book by Leonara Carrington. Carrington’s stories describe a magical world filled with terrifying creatures that follow humans on their journey through life.

The Milk of Dreams features 213 artists from 58 countries and focuses on 3 themes: the representation of bodies and metamorphosis, the relationship between individuals and technology, and the connection between bodies and the Earth. Most of the 213 artists are female!!
If you have a chance to visit the Biennale this year, I’d highly recommend it. Tickets can be bought at this website (https://www.labiennale.org/en/art/2022/information#tickets), and the exhibit is open until November 27th, 2022.
