Hello, Red Fox community!
I’m Alice and I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the new host of Marist Italy’s program blog.
I’m a first-year at Marist College. I chose to take advantage of the school’s renowned first-year abroad program and spend my first year in Florence, Italy. I’m originally from the USA and live in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where I enjoy the mountains and greenery of the East Coast. At Marist, I study English and Political Science and will most likely return to the Poughkeepsie campus after the spring semester, where I hope to stay engaged in the exploration and love of global culture that I’ve experienced here in Italy.
I’m extremely passionate about literature, language, and learning. I love to be able to sit in a classroom and engage with all types of knowledge; my favorite areas include history, earth sciences, classic literature, philosophy, and writing in its various forms. My other great love is photography; learning from the masters, trying out different cameras and film stocks, and shooting for hours on end. Keep an eye out for some photos in my upcoming posts! I also love to cook, explore various expressions of art, see new places, and read any book that falls into my hands. I have a massive sweet tooth, too, so to catch me trying a new pastry is not a rare sight.
I have several years of experience in student journalism, working as a writer, photographer, and editor at my high school, as well as a photo contributor to a local paper. I took over the Marist Italy blog for my love of writing and journalism, my enthusiasm for school, and my warmth for the city of Florence. This year, I hope to bring content focused on getting to know the city, student survival tips, and updates on what the Marist community is doing in Tuscany and beyond.
Our first post will drop alongside this profile. Be sure to catch that one and everything else coming up.
Thanks for tuning in to what’s going on on our blog! Let’s have a great year!
