Imagine 100,000 people in one small space, all trying to stuff themselves with delicious food and good memories. This is an accurate description of EXPO2015, essentially the modern world’s fair. EXPO is the World Food Expo, a shared space where the countries of the world get together, build their own pavilions, and then share their cultural cuisine with the visitors to their pavilions.
Our first visit was the Sierra Leonian pavilion. The entire building had a mirrored exterior, so obviously made for selfies. In the Sierra Leone pavilion, we saw traditional jewelry and yummy traditional risotto.
Next, we went to Afghanistan. We talked with the people who ran the tent about their traditional cuisine. I really loved the beautiful rugs and bags in their pavilion.
We decided to eat at the Turkmenistan pavilion. The food was warm, yummy, and spicy. All of my favorite flavors!
And then, my favorite part of the day: Belgium, for waffles.
It was crazy busy, but overall a great day. That waffle will haunt me forever….
