Benvenuti a Marist Italy! My name is Jake, and I’m the president of RHC for Marist Italy. There are 4 other members in RHC with me — we have our Vice President and Treasurer Ting, our Secretary Bryanna, and our Public Relations Officers Maggie and Sydney. RHC stands for “residence hall council,” and we are a student-run organization that plans fun events for the FFE (Freshman Florence Experience) and FBA (Freshman Bachelor students in Florence) students that live in Palazzo Le Monnier (Marist Italy Housing in Florence). Being an RHC member has loads of perks; for one, it gives you the opportunity to organize various kinds of events! Just this year we were able to organize some smaller get-togethers like for game night in the common room and for movie nights where we would go to a local theater and see a new movie, as well as parties for Halloween, Christmas, and St. Patrick’s Day and host potlucks for both Thanksgiving and Easter. We were even able to plan an end-of-the-year trip to the beach for our freshmen students! Another benefit to joining RHC is that it’s great for building your resume! In addition, if you’re a BA student and you’re selected to join RHC, you’ll get priority when Marist Italy is selecting people for other student worker positions. It’s a really cool organization that gives you loads of opportunities to plan social functions for your classmates, make some new friends, and build a solid community for your peers in Palazzo Le Monnier. I hope you all consider applying, and good luck to those of you who do submit applications!
